UPDATE 3/6: When the TrueDepth Camera service portion was released last month, it was accessible on all iPhones, including the iPhone XS. Apple has now expanded support to include the 11th-generation iPhone X, according to MacRumors.
The extension of Apple's repair program was announced in a new internal document, and it should provide everyone still owning a 2017 iPhone X the possibility to extend its life even more if the worst happens.
Original Story 2/24: If your iPhone's Face ID fails, it'll be a repairable issue rather than a situation where you'll have to buy a new phone.
According to MacRumors, an internal document from Apple discloses that the company is releasing a TrueDepth Camera service part that Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers may use to replace the module in an iPhone. All of the components for Face ID and the front-facing camera are found in the service portion. This is noteworthy since previously, the entire iPhone would have needed to be replaced.
The iPhone XS and subsequent devices are eligible for repair. The letter claims that this would help Apple minimize its carbon impact, but users will undoubtedly be pleased merely to know that they will be able to retain their iPhones.
