Even if Elon Musk is able to reactivate former President Donald Trump's Twitter account, Trump has stated that he would not return to the platform, according to Fox News.
Rather than tweeting from his previous favorite platform, Trump told Fox News that he will begin uploading "truths" to his own social media app, Truth Social, in the coming days.
On Monday, Trump told Fox News, "I'm not going on Twitter; I'm going to remain on TRUTH." "I hope Elon buys Twitter because he'll enhance it and he's a fantastic guy, but I'm going to stick with TRUTH."
Musk won a bid to take Twitter private for $54.20 per share, prompting Trump's declaration. Musk has been negotiating to buy the firm he refers to as "the digital town square" for over two weeks. Trump told Americano Media on April 14th that he "probably wouldn't have any interest" in returning to Twitter even if Musk acquired it, in response to Musk's early remarks revealing his aspirations.
"Twitter has gotten tedious." "They've got rid of a lot of terrific voices on Twitter, a lot of their conservative views," Trump later remarked in an interview with Americano Media.
According to talks with The Washington Post's Dave Weigel on Monday, Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance and Donald Trump Jr. were optimistic about Twitter's future under Musk.
"I think it's fantastic that Elon is purchasing Twitter because it's not a forum for free expression," Vance told Weigel.
"I concur. "It's not only the kind of free speech restrictions, but also the shadowbanning," Trump Jr. remarked.
Truth Social, the Trump Media & Technology Group's Twitter clone, debuted in March but was plagued by technical difficulties that rendered it almost useless. The launch was plagued by problems and a long waiting for those who wanted to create accounts. However, after switching to new cloud services on Saturday, Truth Social has been functioning reasonably successfully, and its customers may now finish enrolling their profiles.
The Washington Post claimed earlier this month that Trump was "furious" over Truth's rocky launch, implying that he would refuse to post until it was completely working. With Saturday's infrastructure flip, Trump is more likely to follow through on his vow to post only on Truth in the near future.
Following the rioting at the US Capitol on January 6th, Trump was permanently banned from Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Twitter warned at the time that Trump's tweets may provoke further violence.
Trump believes Musk's purchase of Twitter will be beneficial to the platform. "I believe it's a terrific idea. "In our country, we want liberty, justice, and fairness, and the more transparent we can be, the better," he told Fox.
The remark reflects Republican politicians' and influencers' reactions to Musk's successful acquisition.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), a famous tech hawk, tweeted on Monday, "Today is an encouraging day for freedom of speech." "I'm hoping that Elon Musk will put an end to Big Tech's history of silencing users with opposing viewpoints."
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Turning Point USA president and CEO Charlie Kirk wrote, "With Elon taking over Twitter, the Regime gets weaker."
Nonetheless, Trump stated that a Musk-run Twitter would not be a serious competitor to Truth. "I believe it's a terrific idea. "In our nation, we want liberty, justice, and fairness, and the more transparent we can be, the better," Trump remarked. "However, I don't see that as a threat to what I'm doing."
