A smaller version of the full-sized MX Keys costs the same $99.99.
The MX Keys Mini from Logitech is a small, platform-independent wireless keyboard without the Numpad present on the conventional MX Keys. Despite its smaller size, it costs the same $99.99, but there may be enough extras to make this the better option (if paying $100 on a keyboard is a possibility).
In addition to a voice dictation key and a mic mute key that mutes on a system level rather than per program, Logitech added a dedicated emoji key to the top row of Mini's function keys, allowing you to add some personality to your communications. Media and volume keys, as well as the ability to control the brightness of the keyboard backlighting, join them on the function row.
The MX Keys Mini charges through USB-C and allows you to switch between three Bluetooth devices with ease. However, you should be aware that this model does not come with Logitech's unified USB receiver, and therefore will not function with the one you may already have. It's a Bluetooth-only device, but it's compatible with Logitech's new $14.99 Bolt USB receiver, which improves latency and security.
Other than that, the MX Keys Mini has a lot in common with the MX Keys. Its matte-textured, concave keys provide an excellent typing experience. It also features automatic illumination that turns on as your hands pass over the keyboard and turns off a few seconds later when you draw away.
The MX Keys Mini's default version displays command for Windows and macOS, and it's also compatible with Chrome OS, Linux, Android, iOS, and iPadOS. Rose, soft gray, and graphite are the three colors available. If you're a die-hard Mac user who doesn't want the start and alt buttons, Logitech produces a version just for macOS and other Apple devices. It's the same price, but it's only available in a pale grey hue that's reminiscent of Apple's earlier desktop keyboards.
With the illumination switched on, as it does by default, Logitech claims that the MX Keys Mini may last up to 10 days on a single charge. With the backlighting turned off, it is said to last up to five months.
To obtain a quality wireless keyboard with scissor switches, you don't have to pay $99.99. However, if you use several devices in your setup, and especially if you use the MX Master or Anywhere mouse, the price of the MX Keys Mini may be simpler to explain. Logitech's Flow function, when used in conjunction with one of these, allows you to transfer files across macOS and Windows PCs.
