Backbone has a 3D-printed remedy for the camera hump on the iPhone 13 Pro

Backbone Labs has recognized a problem with the new iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max that makes it difficult to use its outstanding iPhone gaming controller. The iPhone 13 Pro's larger camera bump means it doesn't fit cleanly in the Backbone One controller, either jutting out on one side or causing the rear bridge to slightly collapse, as we discovered last week. It isn't useless, but it isn't wonderful either.

In a Reddit post, a Backbone spokesperson said, "We spent a significant amount of time painstakingly building every surface of Backbone One (both bits and atoms) and even developing universal support for the iPhones available when it was launched." “As a result, we're dissatisfied with the current scenario. Several team members switched to the 13 Pro Max for a better gaming experience, and although the fit may be fine for some users, it isn't as nice as we'd like.”

Backbone has created an adaptor to improve the experience with the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max in order to solve this. Unfortunately, due to supply restrictions and COVID-19, the firm will not be able to mass-produce them right soon, therefore the adapter design will be published as an open-source 3D printable file. Backbone promises to provide an adaptor to users who contact the company's support staff if they don't have access to a 3D printer.

The printed files should be available online "in a couple of days," and we'll report back on how well the solution works as soon as we can.
